The Pierre, the iconic flagship of Taj Hotels, on New York’s Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, re-opened on June 1st 2009, following a meticulous $100 million renovation to create new guestroom and bath interiors and reconfigure first floor public areas to accommodate a new restaurant and lobby lounge.
The Pierre features the newest and most inviting guestrooms in the city. Staff outnumbers guests by a ratio of three to one, allowing us to focus on anticipating a guest’s every need.
All 189 guest rooms, including 49 suites, are transformed to feature a warm, inviting residential-style décor with a feeling of quiet luxury. High ceilings and abundant natural light evoke a gracious, airy experience that mirrors the new interiors. Color palettes, comprised of soft neutral tones in pale ivory, taupe and coral, are contrasted with rich woods and tufted leather headboards and matching benches. Richly textured silk and brocade fabrics in elegant neutrals with tasteful accents of color adorn upholstery, pillows, draperies and bed throws. Guest bathrooms have been enlarged to accommodate a floor-to-ceiling glass-walled shower with oversized showerhead and multiple jet sprays and a marble-clad soaking tub.
The slender silhouette of The Pierre is New York’s most elegant building. Located in the desirable Upper East Side, it is one of New York’s grande dame hotels, offering neo-renaissance architectural details and a storied history of the movie stars and moguls who called it home. Prominently positioned at the most coveted address, 61st and Fifth Avenue, The Pierre is by far the best location in Manhattan. One of the few hotels on Central Park, The Pierre’s location between 5th and Madison Avenues places it in the midst of the best shopping in the city. Central Park is your front yard, offering jogging trails, horseback riding, biking, ice-skating, a zoo or a refreshing walk through nature. A wealth of museums surround the park, including the Natural History Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, all within walking distance. The residential feel of the hotel makes The Pierre the perfect pied-à-terre for guests who desire the quintessential Manhattan experience.
